Hermes Franca

I'm sure everyone read on MMAJunkie or some other MMA fight that Hermes was relieved of his UFC contract. At first, I thought this was done by the UFC but after reading the article I saw that Hermes was the one who wanted out. What's interesting is that he wants out so he can earn a salary elsewhere, but then the athletic commission tells him that if he fights outside of the country to earn money that they will never let him fight in the states again. So, now he's out of his UFC contract, can't fight until July and has to make ends meet by doing seminars. Wouldn't someone in this position think about this before asking to be released? Anyway, I found it odd, but it should be interesting to see where Hermes ends up and when he'll be back in the UFC.

Not surprising. UFC thinks they made this fighter so no other promotion should be able to use his talent. Also look at Tim Silvia, he is going to leave UFC and start making 6 figures in another promotion instead of being the low man on the salary bar. I think he has proven himself to be a main event fighter and get paid like one.

Silvia will be an interesting story. I hope he gets some respect elsewhere. He is an odd looking guy, but he can do what he needs to do. More and more people are looking to M1 and also anything that Mark Cuban touches. I'm wondering of Andrei Arlovski will follow in the same footsteps.

Arlovski has fallen off the face of the earth with what the UFC has done to him. I hope he gets some big fights somewhere else and comes back strong. It will take a few fights to get his name back up.

It's been over a year since his fight with Werdum. With that crummy fight I'm sure the UFC wanted to renew his contract with a lower salary. He still has a fan base so hopefully he will do well elsewhere. Perhaps him and Silvia can meet up again on an EliteXc card.
